Communication training for managers
Every company has employees with a problematic use of alcohol, drugs or medication. As a manager, company doctor, HR manager, prevention advisor or confidential advisor, it is not always easy to talk to the employee in question about this. Sometimes they do not see the problem or do not dare to seek help because they think they will have to stop everything immediately or go to a rehab centre.
That is why we organise communication workshops for managers about alcohol and drugs. We teach them how they can talk about this subject in a constructive manner with their employees. These workshops are available in Dutch, French and English.
What topics will be covered in these workshops?
- Why are we talking about drugs and alcohol in the workplace?
- This workshop fits within the context of health, safety and welfare in the workplace.
- What drugs are commonly used?
- Basic information about (il)legal drugs and current figures about use, the risks and their impact in the workplace.
- How can you recognise signs of abuse?
- How do you recognise problem use and which factors play a role (3M model)?
- How do you approach a conversation about abuse?
- Do's and don'ts, tips & tricks and communication exercises based on real cases.
- How does the company support me?
- The four pillars of an integrated alcohol and drugs policy, embedded in the safety, health and personnel policy
We start from concrete cases (preferably supplied by the company itself) and work with them. In this way, participants go home with concrete ideas and tips to tackle current (or future) problems constructively and effectively.
After attending these sessions, managers will be able to recognise alcohol/drug abuse and know how to approach a conversation about this delicate subject. This will enable them to tackle current problems and prevent future ones.
